Canary
A swept flying e-powered wing.. this is loosely based on the "Sparian" with changes to the wing and fuselage .. and with e-power.
The dimensions :
Wing area = 26.85 dm sq, 416 in sq
AUW = 650 gms
CG @10% SM = at 148 mm of RC from LE
Wing loading at 650 gms AUW = 7.93 oz/sq ft, WCL = 4.66, stall speed = 22.2 kmph
The wing is hotwired out of XPS (Blucore) and skinned with 80gsm fiberglass (one layer). It has a 10mm wide CF built-up cap spar on top and bottom, across the whole span. It is reinforced with a 30mm wide CF built-up spar to upto 230 mm from root, both top and bottom
Fuselage is a simple box made out of coro with bamboo skewers inserted into the flutes at certain areas for strength.
The wing is mated to the fuselage by two 8mm nylon bolts and then the edges are hotglued. This makes secured seating and at the same time can be disassembled, in case required.
Also vortex generators have been added. 5 sets of VG,s 70mm apart, extending, in total, 350mm from wing tip, and at 57mm from wing LE along the cord (approx at Re 30000 at stall speed).
The tip rudders are detachable for ease of transportation, and are attached with two 8mm plastic screw fasteners used in attaching car plastic parts
Electronics : 2212 1400kv motor, 30 A esc, 7x4.5 prop, 1300 mah 3S battery, 9 gm servos
It has 2 setting of flaps and in addition an air-brake
Latter updates
1. The Fuse was changed to balsa , reinforced with fg at certain places. The wing mating with fuse was more streamlined and enclosed withing the overall fuse.
2. Vortex generators were added in the outer elevon (360mm) .. this improved the low speed turns.
3. the tip rudders made changed to foam/depron skinned with fg . Also they were made detachable and were secured with quick release fasteners.

The flying characteristics are excellent.. good glide without flaps, good(low) sink rate with flaps. No sudden stalls/wing drops in slow & tight turns...brakes slows her down substantially, used intermittently just before touch down. .. a good one-piece aircraft for thermals as well as for winds. She thermals beautifully .. the only catch is orientation at a distance
A better flight video is here https://youtu.be/dHm2M2FzRIM airbrakes are deployed during the landing finals
