LoKi
This is a 1 m combat wing.
It is hot wired out of EPS foam (thermocole.. high density).
Dimensions
Airfoil is TL56, thickned to 120%
It has one 1x5 mm CF strip embedded vertically in the underside to act as a spar. The two wing halfs are butt joined and the motor mount is also a cross beam joining the two halfs
The elevons are 3 mm balsa covered with monokote
The end plates made out of coro , and the flutes are vertically aligned
A strong fishing line has been glued along the whole LE to prevent dings .. The whole aircraft is lightly misted with 3M77 spray and then covered with tape (colored tape).
Servos are mounted on slots on slots cut on the top surface, keeping in mind bind free linkage geometry and as close to the RC as possible.
Electronics
(electronics , powertrain, battery choices are greatly governed by what is available with me.. sometimes may not be optimum)
Power train - 2206 2400kv Quad motor, 40A ESC, driving a 5x5 tri blade prop
Servos - 2 x 9 gm servos
Battery - 3S 2200mah
AUW - 535 gm
CG is at 145mm from RC tip
Adjust the placement of electronics and battery to achieve the required CG position .. mine does that without any additional weight. The battery would need to be mounted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Make sure that the battery has a good securing mechanism.. mine is secured in an fairly deep battery slot with a velcro strap. A cover over the battery, electronics and wires helps in reducing drag. I have one made out of thin plastic sheet which is hinged to the LR and attached near the motor with a piece of velcro
Make sure you a contrasting and visible color scheme is used.
Once trimmed, this is a FANTASTIC flyer.. very agile in high rates and docile in low. I have flown it in high winds and on calm days . ... A blast to fly, all seasons, very easy to setup and carry
